About Asia Clean Energy Forum

The Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) is a flagship event hosted by the Asian Development Bank that brings together clean energy practitioners from governments, private sector, academia, and development partners to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration. More information is available at https://asiacleanenergyforum.adb.org/. P4I will contribute to two thematic sessions at ACEF 2025 under the themes of ‘Private Sector and Partnership Financing’ and ‘Regional Power Trade & Market Integration’.

Thematic Track Session 4.3 (Private Sector and Partnership Financing)

Building Expertise for Clean Energy Investments

Date: Thursday, 5 June 2025

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (GMT +8)

Venue: ADB Headquarters, Manila

Expanding clean energy investment requires not only capital but also the technical and institutional expertise to design, implement, and manage projects effectively. Capacity-building programs and targeted technical assistance are critical to equipping governments, developers, and financial institutions with the knowledge needed to unlock private sector participation--particularly through public-private partnerships and blended finance mechanisms. This session will explore how inclusive, accessible training and advisory efforts can strengthen local capabilities and support sustainable clean energy development.

Presenters will share on-the-ground experiences from initiatives that are addressing expertise gaps at both the institutional and community levels. Case studies will include efforts to build technical and financial capacity for scaling solar investment in Bhutan, and the role of grid interconnection in enhancing the long-term viability of micro-hydro systems in Nepal. These stories highlight how capacity-building can serve as a catalyst for investment readiness, project sustainability, and inclusive energy transitions.

Speakers

  • Gilles Pascual, Partner, Energy Transition, EY, Partnerships for Infrastructure (P4I)
  • Siddartha Ramakanth Keshavadasu, Nangia & Co. LLP
  • Nisha Jaiswal, Senior Program Officer, Winrock International

Thematic Track Session 2.4 (Regional Power Trade & Market Integration)

Advancing Renewable Energy Integration

Date: Thursday, 5 June 2025

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (GMT +8)

Venue: ADB Headquarters, Manila

As countries across Asia and the Pacific ramp up renewable energy deployment, integrating variable sources like solar and wind into regional power markets presents both opportunities and challenges. Enhancing grid stability, improving market design, and ensuring regional coordination are essential to unlock the full potential of renewables. This session will explore innovative strategies to manage intermittency, optimize cross-border collaboration, and strengthen system resilience--highlighting how regional frameworks and technical solutions are accelerating progress.

The session will feature practical examples of how countries are leveraging energy storage, digital solutions, and modeling tools to enable more flexible and reliable renewable integration. Case studies will include integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into utility-scale renewable projects in Uzbekistan, energy storage innovations in Sarawak, and modeling-based approaches to derisk 24/7 renewable supply for Indian industries. The session will also highlight recent experiences from Bangladesh in enabling cross-border flexibility and the role of the ASEAN Interconnection Masterplan Study (AIMS III) in strengthening regional cooperation.
